In 1958, Borge Mogensen, the legendary Danish design masters, designed an extendable table called Library Table. By raising and securing the hinged leaves at either end, the length of the table could be doubled. When not in use, the hinged leaves fold down to hang vertically. Inspired by Shaker Movement functionality and utilitarianism, and inspired by the English gateleg table dating back to the Baroque period this exquisite and clean design, which adds the essence of minimalist and functional Scandinavian modern design, is considered as one of Mogensen's iconic designs.
