Biblioteket Carpet by Emma Olbers is designed for the public library in Stockholms newly renovated National Museum. 'Biblioteket', means 'library' in Swedish, which is a hand-knotted carpet with a design that represents a mixture of Emma’s first sketches of the Old Library. It is made in a finely hand-knotted Tibetan knot with 50% wool and a 50% Tencel mix, which is an environmentally-friendly design as the Tencel is sourced from raw material wood stems from fast-growing forests that are not suitable for agriculture. Also, the water consumption for Tencel is 10 – 20 times lower than with cotton. In the late 1920s, amber glass was a popular material widely used in designs, that was why Danish designer Poul Henningsen incorporated it into the PH lighting design serious. What makes PH series lamps special is the three-layer system, which emits a glare-free, downward directed light while radiating a pleasantly delicate glow. One hundred years later, in 2020, Louis Poulsen launched the limited edition of this PH 2/1 table lamp. Compared with the regular PH 2/1 table lamp, this special edition has a smaller size. Made of mouth-blown Italian glass, it is a highly collectable art piece. Nanna Ditzel was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1923. She started her career as an apprentice cabinet maker in Copenhagen, which was a controversial choice for a woman of that time. However, for Nanna, this was the first step in her career. With her playful and sensitive taste in design, Ditzel was also the first female designer of the Danish School of Design to achieve a real breakthrough. She is known as one of the most successful Danish designers of the 20th century. During her life, she has achieved huge success in furniture, textile and jewellery design.
