The Mysterious Clam Chair, Whose Design It Is?

While the soft lambskin or upholstered seat rests on a solid oak frame making the iconic Clam Chair the perfect bedroom lounge chair, this distinctive chair that dates back to the 1940s is mysterious, as its designer has remained unknown for many years. Initially, the Clam Chair was thought to be the design of Danish designer/architect Viggo Boesen, due to the similarities in the shape of the Clam Chair to Boesen's designs such as the Little Petra Lounge Chair. Little Petra Lounge Chair by  Viggo Boesen Later, the National Museum in Oslo showed evidence that the chair was designed by Norwegian designer "Martin Olsen" and produced by VIK & BLINDHEIM, but it was later confirmed that "Martin Olsen" was actually the name of a closed furniture store in Oslo . It wasn't until 2013 that Danish auction house Bruun Rasmussen decided to track down the origins of the Clam Chair. Anne Sofie, the granddaughter of Philip Arctander, got in touch with Philips' frien
