Nanna Ditzel, The First Female Designer To Achieve A Real Breakthrough In Danish Design History
Nanna Ditzel was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1923. She started her career as an apprentice cabinet maker in Copenhagen, which was a controversial choice for a woman of that time. However, for Nanna, this was the first step in her career.
With her playful and sensitive taste in design, Ditzel was also the first female designer of the Danish School of Design to achieve a real breakthrough. She is known as one of the most successful Danish designers of the 20th century.
During her life, she has achieved huge success in furniture, textile and jewellery design.
