The concern over environment has been increasing during the past few years while sustainability is a growing trend in Scandinavian design. MATER, Danish design brand established in 2006, aims to create sustainable design when taking protecting our Mother Earth as their philosophy.

Nova Sea Chair designed by ARDE is a sustainable chair recreated on the basis of ocean plastic waste to promote new ways to reduce the world's ocean pollution. With a light and elegant shape and a metal frame, the Nova Sea Chair can be used as household dining chairs or in commercial setting with or without armrests and with optional fabric upholstery.

In addition, the Nova Sea Chair is designed for disassembly, which means every component can be recycled into new production rings in its purest form. The design support sustainability by contributing to the UN SDGs: “Responsible Consumption and Production” (SDG 12) protecting “Life below water” (SDG 14), supporting “Partnership for the Goals” (SDG 17) and “Climate Action” (SDG 13).
