Unconventional Corona Swivel Easy Chair from 1960s
Poul M. Volther (1923-2002) was a Danish industrial designer who combined traditional Danish craftsmanship with modern design to their extreme. In 1964, inspired by the natural phenomenon of the eclipse, Volther designed a geometric lounge chair design that challenged the traditional one - the Corona Chair.
The Corona chair has a remarkable structure and was originally called the "floating chair" for its light sculptural and airy appearance. The four tapering oval seat cushions of the Corona swivel chair are attached to a flexible spring-steel "spine" that is matte chrome in colour and fully upholstered.
The Corona Chair is designed and made in Denmark by Fredericia, a Danish Modern Design brand established in 1911.
