Scandinavian Furniture 101 - Soap Finish & Maintenance
Like oil-treated wooden furniture mentioned in the previous article, soap-finished is a common choice for Scandinavian Design enthusiasts.
1. Soap-treated wood is very similar to untreated wood in terms of look and feel. Like oil makeup, a beautiful and unique patina will be developed on soap-treated wooden furniture over time, and the surface of the wood will become more solid because the surface will become thicker in daily use.
2. Daily Cleaning:
Wipe surfaces with a soft, dry cloth. For daily cleaning, use a cloth firmly wrung in lukewarm water. When encountering tough stains, you should add soap flakes (¼ dl) to the water (3 litres). In addition to the daily cleaning, soap treated wood should be treated 1-2 times a year or whenever necessary according to the directions below.
NEVER use coloured soap flake and soap flake containing bleach or perfume.
